Four years ago, Poonam Sharma came across an injured dog lying helpless on the roadside in Kurukshetra, Haryana. She couldn’t walk away. That one act of kindness became the beginning of a small rescue centre that has cared for over 200 sick, injured, and abandoned dogs.
From injured dogs on the street left to die after accidents, to pets thrown out by their families when they fell sick and old, every dog here has a story of heartbreak and survival. This shelter gives them a second chance at life.

Every animal I rescue has its own stor
Just a week ago, we rescued a mother and her puppy who were hit by a car. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t save the mother, and the puppy still hasn’t recovered from the shock. There is another dog that we found on the street, pregnant and with a huge tumour. How can I just walk away?” - Poonam
At this shelter, Poonam treats, feeds and takes care of these dogs’ recovery till they are fit to go back to their areas. But there are several paralysed dogs, victims of brutal accidents, who can’t survive on the streets and live permanently at the shelter — loved, safe, and finally at peace.

People think only strays suffer, but the truth is, even pets are abandoned the moment they fall sick or grow old. We found some Labradors abandoned. One was blind, the other had a tumour and could barely stand. They had lived their whole life inside a home, loved once and suddenly, they were on the streets, confused and scared. We treated them, but it broke my heart to see their eyes waiting for the family that never came back. And it is not one such story. Poonam
Each rescue means new expenses-food, medicines, surgeries, and shelter. Despite challenges, Poonam refuses to turn away a single one.

As the number of rescues grows, funds have run dangerously low. Some dogs need urgent surgeries, others depend on daily medication, and feeding dozens of dogs every day is becoming impossible without help.
Despite all odds, Poonam continues to open her doors to the suffering because for many of these animals, her shelter is their only hope.
She needs help to keep the shelter service alive.
Your support can give food, medicine, and care to the injured and abandoned dogs.
