Wazir Chand’s Mission to Save Injured and Abandoned Cows

Since the last eight years, Wazir Chand, a resident of Village Chindar, Fatehabad, Haryana, has served more than 5000+ cows. Today, the shelter is home to nearly 300+ cows at any given time

many of them rescued from road accidents, abandonment, or serious illness. 
The centre provides food, shelter, and medical care to these cows who have nowhere else to go.

Fighting Pain, One Rescue at a Time

Each rescue brings a story of both heartbreak and hope. Some cows arrive bleeding from hit-and-run accidents, while others are left to die when they grow old or stop producing milk. A few are found collapsed in the fields, hungry and weak. 

We’ve treated cows with broken legs, deep wounds, tumours, and even paralysis. Watching them stand again, eat, and moo gives me the strength to keep going. It reminds me that compassion can heal what cruelty destroys.” - Wazir Chand

Lack of resources leading to delayed rescue, even death

The shelter’s small team works day and night to respond to emergency calls. But without an ambulance, many cows die before help reaches them. Even if they arrive on time, they have to wait for external help for X-rays and other equipment to get the treatment started. 

Sometimes we get a call in the middle of the night about a cow hit by a vehicle. By the time we find transport and reach, it’s too late. An ambulance and the right equipment, could save dozens of lives every month. ”- Wazir Chand

A Plea for Help

Running the centre has never been easy. Feeding 300 cows daily, arranging medical supplies, and maintaining the shelter takes more than love. It takes steady support. The team now urgently needs funds for an ambulance, X-ray machine, medicines, construction material for treatment rooms and daily  fodder  for the animals.
