Aashiyana by Naman & Welfare Trust began with one mission- to rescue injured and abandoned dogs suffering on the streets of Delhi. Over the years, they built a strong team, an ambulance service, and a shelter that became a healing home for accident victims, paralysed dogs, and animals left behind by their owners.
But as their impact grew, so did the suffering they witnessed around them.
Even while rescuing dogs every day, the team often came across injured monkeys- electrocuted on wires, hit by vehicles, attacked by dogs, or babies left orphaned after losing their mothers. These cases were heartbreaking, but without specialised training and infrastructure, the team could not take them in.
Everything changed the day tragedy struck.
The Baby Monkey They Couldn’t Save
One evening, they found a tiny baby monkey lying motionless after a dog attack.He was barely breathing, his small fingers still clenched in fear. The team rushed him for treatment, took turns staying awake through the night, and held onto hope for hours.
By morning, his heartbeat faded.That loss stayed with the founder. He remembers holding the lifeless baby and realising how completely unsupported these animals were.

That moment became a turning point. Aashiyana had already built a strong rescue home for dogs… but now they knew they had to extend their compassion beyond species.
Stepping Up When No One Else Was
The team soon discovered something alarming- there was no dedicated monkey rescue force anywhere in the region. Injured monkeys were left to suffer because no one was trained to climb rooftops to reach them, handle their complex behaviour, or care for the severe burn injuries, fractures, and trauma they often came with. Many were victims of electrocution, road accidents, falls, cruelty, or had been abandoned after losing their troop. Realising that these animals had nowhere else to go, Aashiyana knew they could not look away. Today, they have built a trained and fearless monkey rescue team that responds to emergencies across Delhi every single day.
The founder often tells his team, “When we save a monkey, it feels like serving Lord Hanuman Himself.”
Why a Dedicated Monkey Medical Ward Is Now Urgent
Unlike dogs or cows, monkeys require highly specialised care. Their injuries are serious, and their recovery needs are unique.
Aashiyana desperately needs:
an ICU-level treatment unit
a burn-care ward for electrocution cases
isolation spaces for trauma victims
a nursery for orphaned babies
wildlife-trained handlers and medical staff
Right now, they treat monkeys in improvised spaces- far from ideal. A dedicated medical ward would save countless lives that are currently lost due to delays.
